I was accepted in the summer paid Internship Programme of Fortis Bank in Hong Kong. While there I was assigned to the Bancassurance Department which at the time was doing a merger with ICBC of China.
My primary duties where to carry out basic due diligence and assist in the setting up of operations throughout the merger. While there I would travel to Beijing with the team to meet with ICBC and help organise meetings, minutes, documentations and client entertainment when they came to Hong Kong.
While there, I also became responsible for the sponsorship programme ran by Fortis Bank Hong Kong and arranged the sponsorship of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestra had asked Edo de Waart, a renowned conductor from the Netherlands, to come and become the Artistic Director of the Group.
Fortis Bank sponsored his contract and his first Philarmonic season in Hong Kong. It was my responsability to finalise the arrangements and prepare our sponsored events.
Doing a training Internship with Fortis Bank gave me a good knowledge in the workings of a large bank and the various operations in which it is involved.
