Asia Pacific Investment Partners, founded in 2001, is an investment company that is primarily focused on the emerging markets. Unlike many private equity firms, APIP often assumes majority operating stakes in its portfolio companies and in a number of cases enters into a new sector through the creation and incubation of a new corporation. The investment of capital is small yet the investment in time and human capital is substantial. The firm often act as advisors to individuals and corporations during their investment allocation decision process.

During the time I worked for APIP, I was given the responsability for Business Development of some of its various operations within Mongolia and abroad. I worked primarily with two companies; Mongolian Resorts and Mongolian Properties.

Mongolian Resorts is an APIP owned and Mongolia based operating company for a restaurant, a nightclub, a guesthouse, 2 coffee shops and an extensive Tour & Expeditions operation.

Under my management the company ceased being a loss making company and was on its way to becoming profitable,  to achieve this, I quickly closed unprofitable ventures to reinvest into high potential earnings businesses.

This involved closing the UB Deli restaurant and the Mongolian Resorts Guesthouse to concentrate on the  Java Java Airport coffee shops , the Oasis night club as well as the expedition tours and the actual resort.

I hired and trained a new management team, took in a few interns,  and generally tried to create a professional team to support the company.

I Introduced various accounting policies and operational practices, redesigned and integrated the various Mongolian Resorts websites with new content and components as well as attended a number of European travel conferences.

While at Mongolian resorts I kept managing a number of foreign clients of APIP and assisting with the Sales and Marketing of Mongolian Properties.

Director of Sales & Marketing – Mongolian Properties

Mongolian Properties is the largest property solution provider in Mongolia with Property Development, Construction, Management, Rental and Sales departments.

In this position over 5 million USD worth of sales of Mongolian Real Estate were achieved to both private and institutional investors throughout the world. I assisted in this process by sourcing and developing direct clients throughout the world but primarilly in the UK. I assisted in the preparation and attended a number of property conferences such as MIPIM in Cannes, helped prepare marketing documentation and websites for the various projects as well as for Mongolian Properties itself.

As a target-driven sales manager, strong relationships were developed with various global institutions and Mongolian Properties was placed on the global investment map. We developed strong relationships with a number of property agencies around the world and opened representative offices in a number of new locations.

Mongolian Properties continues to enjoy a unique status in Mongolia with a near monopoly situation on the real estate market.This is achieve through a large protofolio of properties and excellent commitement to service.

While with Mongolian Properties I also assisted in the design and publication of comprehensive Real Estate Research documents and guides as well as carried out due diligence requirements for client institutions.
