Where I took the IB

About: , , ,

Malvern College is a co-educational school for pupils aged 13 – 18 which, whilst maintaining the finest traditions, is renowned for innovation and its forward-looking approach to education. Founded in 1865, Malvern is set in a beautiful 250 acre campus in the heart of England; an inspiring, supportive and friendly environment in which to educate children.

Malvern College provides a glorious environment for the happy and constructive growth of each boy or girl admitted to the school; the College is a community which, whilst rooted in the best traditions, is also in an exciting phase of development.  Each pupil at Malvern benefits from the opportunities and challenges in the academic sphere, in games, in cultural activities and in learning to lead. The emphasis on nurturing the individual is balanced by the responsibility that each has to play in the role of the lives of others, in developing harmony in relationships and team work, and in learning self discipline and integrity.

I joined Malvern College in order to take the International Baccalaureate. I studied the following as my IB subjects; higher: French, Economy and English Literature, and as my normal subjects I did Biology, German and Mathematics with of course Theory of Knowledge as an extra subject.

I gained a distinction in the LAMDA Speech & Drama award Level 5 – Graded Examinations in Communication: Speaking in Public as well as a Level 3 – Graded Examinations in Communication: Reading for Performance.

I took part in various house Drama events as well as a few school drama and debating events.

Upon joining the school I became an integral part of the CCF (Combined Cadet Forces) in the Royal Marines Section where I reached the rank of Cadet Regimental Colour Sergeant by the end of my service. During my time in the Malvern College CCF, I took part in many expeditions and exercises with the Royal Marines; in particular I took part in every annual “The Sir Steuart Pringle Trophy Competition” held at CTCRM as well as the annual summer exercises held at Falslane RM station in Scotland. I also represented Malvern College RM CCF at a number of shooting, unarmed combat, survival skills, mountain and arctic warfare training camps.

I boarded at house Number 2 where I became deputy head of house in my last year and received house and school colours a number of times for sporting, drama and other extracurricular events.
